Did you know Indiana has a Social Host Law?
¨ It is a Class B misdemeanor for a person to recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally sell, barter, exchange, provide, or furnish an alcoholic beverage to a minor.
¨ It is a Class A misdemeanor if the person has a prior unrelated conviction under this section; and
¨ It is a Class D FELONY if the consumption, ingestion, or use of the alcoholic beverage is the proximate cause of the serious bodily injury or death of any person.
* You can face a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
* You can be sued if you give alcohol to anyone under 21 and they, in turn, hurt someone, hurt themselves or damage property.
* Officers can remove personal property, money or alcohol used in conjunction with the offense.
